Move a mile in May

To support our activities in Dementia action week we are challenging our staff and service users to move more and Move a Mile in May and donate a minimum of £1 as motivation to support our local services for older people.
This challenge is to raise awareness of the fact that keeping active in as many ways as you can, can help to reduce the risks of developing long term health conditions such as type 2 diabetes and some types of dementia as we age.
You could decide to move a mile (approx 2000 steps) by doing a little more at home, walk around the kitchen whilst the kettle boils or do some armchair exercises whilst watching the TV. If you walk regularly during the day maybe walk an additional mile a day or week during the month. You could try a new activity, walk to the corner shop or just walk an extra stop on a regular bus route.
You can donate £1 for every time you move a mile, £1 a week or £1 if you do the mile over a period of weeks - what matters is that you are moving more than you did before when and how you can whilst supporting our services for older people in Blackburn with Darwen. The link to donate is below
If you want to be sponsored to do the mile you can download our sponsor sheet, and we also have a couple of suggested walks that you could do in both Blackburn and Darwen to achieve your mile.
