Hot off the press – Bristol Age UK’s Guide to Later Life
Our indispensable guide to managing your later years is now available in print.
The Guide to Later Life includes essential information on all Bristol Age UK’s services – from details on active ageing to planning for your future care needs.
Read about our wide range of support services, including the Going Home from Hospital Service – which supports older people being discharged from Southmead and the Bristol Royal Infirmary hospitals.
You can also learn about our expert advice team, who are available throughout the week, offering comprehensive information on issues ranging from social care to housing.
You can also read all about Friends Ageing Better (FAB) - a fantastic service which provides a wide range of activities for older people, including weekly FAB cafes across the city, discos and tai chi sessions. There’s also a monthly FAB newsletter, detailing all the latest activities and events.
Volunteers play an important role in Age UK Bristol’s many services and our guide covers the type of work that they do and outlines opportunities to get involved. Some are volunteering at our FAB cafes and our New Beginnings day-centre at Withywood, south Bristol.
There’s also a comprehensive section on the funding you may be able to receive for your care and the type of care you may be able to access in your home. And if you’re a carer you may be interested in reading about carers’ assessments.
We have 1000 copies of Guide to Later Life to distribute to our partners and community centres.
If you would like to receive a copy, please get in touch. Either email us on Comms@ageukbristol.co.uk or phone 0117 929 7537.
