STAR (Share, Talk & Remember) is a Bereavement Peer Support Group, which provides free support for people grieving from a bereavement or difficult transition in their life. The aim of the support group is to create a safe space for people to receive support, listen to and share stories and experiences with others who have experienced loss in their life.

There are currently STAR groups in Keynsham, Stockwood, Emersons and Lyde, Bedminster and Nailsea. New groups are being set up all the time.

To find out more about STAR and the groups available please visit their website or contact Jan Perry at starsconnecting@outlook.com

STAR are offering a free training programme to guide people through the process of setting up their own bereavement peer-support group in a way that is sustainable and does not rely on funding, using an Asset Based Community Development approach (ABCD).

The course is particularly aimed at local residents who are interested in setting up a bereavement peer-support group in their local neighbourhood and community workers who can support them with this.

The next round of training begins on the 18th January and the 19th January. The free training course involves 4 workshops which will take place online via Zoom, followed by a Catch-up session.
