As Charity Week UK takes place across the country, we are taking the opportunity to shine a light on the difference our charity makes to the lives of older people. Our annual report provides an insight to the charity’s impact. From practical help at home to specialist advice, community activities and volunteer-led services, the charity’s work continues to play a crucial role in reducing isolation and improving wellbeing.
During the year, the organisation recorded:

Over 24,764 enquiries handled by our Information & Advice service, on topics including benefits, housing, scams, and support at home.

More than £600,000 in grants to older people facing financial hardship.

395 active volunteers helping to deliver vital services, including befriending and day-centres.
Highlighted key achievements
Our Handyperson Service assisted around 1,400 households with home safety adaptations such as grab rails and key safes.

The Hospital Discharge and Admission Avoidance Service working as part of Voluntary Sector Alliance. Received 1567 referrals to support hospital discharges and avoid admissions, 80% of which were for people over the age of 70, which resulted in saving over 1,000 hospital bed-days.

Chief Executive Melanie Pittock said the year illustrated “resilience and unwavering commitment to older people” across the area.
Looking ahead, we have launched our 2025-28 strategy, aiming to deepen support for older people and ensure they remain valued and connected in their communities.
