Age UK Cambridgeshire and Peterborough is a respected independent charity dedicated to improving the quality of life of older people throughout the county. Every day, we help people remain independent, connected, and supported within their communities.

Thanks to funding from Girton Town Charity, we are delighted to introduce a new Neighbourhood Co-ordinator role, based in Girton.

This is an exciting opportunity for a compassionate, approachable and motivated individual to help us expand our reach and support more people through accessible, community-based engagement.

About the Role

The Neighbourhood Co-ordinator will deliver a proactive, community-based outreach service in Girton. Working within trusted and established community settings, the postholder will provide a welcoming and accessible face-to-face point of contact for local people age 18 and over who may benefit from information, guidance, practical support and connection to services.

The role will engage with groups, organisations and individuals in the Village, helping them identify what matters most enabling them to explore available options, improve confidence and resilience, and access appropriate support before difficulties escalate into crisis.

The postholder will also liaise with GP’s, social prescribers, health professionals and statutory services and seek to develop new activities where gaps are identified and will follow up on the effectiveness of the support offered.

The postholder will proactively identify individuals who may be isolated or struggling and with the support of Age UKCAP Information and Advice team, ensure they are referred to the appropriate service for support.

The role will contribute to improving mental and physical wellbeing, reducing isolation, increasing access to support and helping people to remain independent within their communities.

• An excellent communicator who can represent Age UK Cambridgeshire & Peterborough professionally, alongside Girton Town Charity, within the community.
• Able to build positive relationships with voluntary sector, health and social care partners.
• Committed to making a genuine difference to people's lives.

The details:

• Hours: 20 hours per week
• Location: Girton community locations with some flexibility to travel within the local area and occasionally further afield
• Salary: £14,695 per annum
• Contract: Fixed term for one year initially
• Closing date for applications: Friday 18th September
• First round of interviews: Monday September 28th, to be held online.
• Second round of interviews: Monday October 5th, to be held in person.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake Disclosure and Barring Service check at an ENHANCED level.
