Our brand new Care Home Befriending Service has been launched to help tackle loneliness and social isolation among care home residents.

Care Home Befriending

Loneliness remains a significant issue for many people living in care homes. National figures suggest that around 80% of residents experience feelings of loneliness, whilst 60% receive no visitors or regular support at all. A simple conversation and meaningful human connection can make a tremendous difference to someone’s wellbeing.

Our Care Home Befriending Service matches isolated residents with compassionate volunteers who can offer regular conversation, companionship and emotional support. Just an hour of friendly connection can brighten a person’s day, improve wellbeing and help create a more vibrant and connected care home community.

Volunteer for Care Home Befriending

We are currently looking for caring volunteers who would like to make a positive difference to the lives of older people. If you can spare an hour a week, your time could have a lasting impact on someone who may otherwise have little social contact.

Refer a Loved One or Register Your Care Home

We are also inviting care homes across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to join the service and provide this valuable opportunity for their residents.

In addition, if you have a friend or relative living in a care home who you feel would benefit from regular companionship and support, we would love to hear from you.

Together, we can ensure that older people living in care homes feel connected, valued and supported.
