How long have you been volunteering?
Five years.

What does the role involve?
I visit an elderly person with dementia, we talk about her life, things she is interested in and look at pictures and film clips and listen to music from the past. She tells me that she feels she can talk to me about things that are important to her, which is very rewarding.

What’s your favourite thing about volunteering?
I love being a befriender for Age UK Camden. I didn't originally plan to volunteer with people with dementia but I wanted to help an older person and Age UK Camden gave me the training I needed.

Age UK Camden is brilliant at offering opportunities such as training, interesting events to its volunteers, as well as a thank you party!
