Area Organiser
About the Role
Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of older people?
Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland is looking for a compassionate and motivated Area Organiser to join our Befriending Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an exciting new initiative that supports isolated older individuals in reconnecting with their communities and rebuilding their social networks.
As an Area Organiser, you will be key in delivering short-term, person-centred support that empowers older people to set and achieve meaningful goals, helping improve their confidence, independence, and overall quality of life.
What we’re looking for:
- An empathetic and approachable individual with excellent interpersonal skills
- Someone with the ability to work 1-to-1 with individuals to help them regain confidence and social connections
- A proactive and organised team player who can manage their time effectively
- Experience in community work, social care, or support roles is desirable
In this role, you will:
- Work directly with older people to identify their needs and goals
- Help them access local groups, services, and opportunities to reconnect
- Collaborate with volunteers and partner organisations to deliver tailored support
- Monitor progress and outcomes to ensure a positive impact
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to build and maintain positive, supportive relationships
- A compassionate and empathetic approach to working with vulnerable individuals
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently
- Proficient in basic IT systems for reporting and communication
- An understanding of safeguarding principles and knowledge of local services (desirable)
- Driving licence with the ability to gain business insurance

Hours: 18 hours per week
Salary: £12.50 per hour
