About Us

Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland provides essential services that help older people live safely, independently and comfortably at home. We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Handyperson to join our team on a zero-hours basis, supporting clients with a range of home maintenance tasks that enhance wellbeing and quality of life.

About the Role

You will carry out a range of small repairs, maintenance tasks and safety installations in clients’ homes. Every job helps someone remain independent, comfortable and safe, so this is a role where your practical skills genuinely make a difference.

Main duties include:

Completing general home maintenance and small repair tasks to a high standard, including painting, decorating, and basic home improvements.
Install safety features such as handrails, grab bars, and key safes.
Providing estimates for work, including materials and time required
Provide friendly and respectful interactions with clients, addressing their specific needs.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

Skilled in general home maintenance, repairs and basic improvements.
Comfortable working in a face-to-face, customer-focused environment.
Able to quote for jobs, complete simple paperwork and manage your own workload effectively.
Understanding of the needs of older people, with a respectful, patient and compassionate approach.
Physically able to carry out lifting, moving and practical tasks involved in the role.
Willing to follow organisational policies and undertake mandatory training.

Essential:
A UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

A basic DBS check applies.

Hours and Pay

Contract: Zero hours
Hours: Flexible, as work becomes available
Salary: £13.57 per hour increasing to £14.10 per hour from 1 April 2026.
