Free Literature Sessions

Free Literature Sessions

Published on 22 April 2024 08:48 AM

A brilliant opportunity for those interested in literature has come to North Tyneside. Helen Aitchison, a local author and director of Write on the Tyne, is offering free sessions in creative writing, poetry and the chance to be involved with the My North Tyneside heritage project.

Helen is a published author who has written a number of novels, poetry, and community projects. Her work captures the experiences of those in the North East both past and present. After 20 years in social care and working alongside a number of charitable organisations, Helen focuses her work heavily on empowerment and inclusivity. Giving everyone the ability to read and be involved with creative writing is important for Helen and she hopes her free sessions with poetry and creative writing will give people that opportunity.

Our own Book Club has read and loved many of Helen’s works, including Ramblings. Ramblings is a collection of poetry “documenting musings, memories, and the magic of life. Covering reflections on birth, death, and everything in between.”  Helen kindly donates all profits from sales to us at Age UK North Tyneside and is continuing her work with free sessions that you can get involved in.
