New Minibus for Sybil Levin

Age UK Notts and Nottingham Community Transport have teamed up to provide reliable and cost effective journeys to our dementia specialist day service at the Sybil Levin Centre on Nottingham Road, Cinderhill.

Launching on 3rd September, older people will enjoy their journeys to and from the centre in a 16 seater, air conditioned minibus, fully equipped to support wheelchair users where needed. Older people and their carers who come to our centre will also have the opportunity to go on trips to local attractions run by Nottingham Community Transport which is a great way to reduce loneliness and social isolation.

Ian Combellack, Nottingham Community Transport’s General Manager commented:
“We have been looking at innovative ways as to how we can help support the local community and when we were approached by Age UK Notts for a solution to issues created by their rapidly ageing minibus, it was only natural that we should try and help.” Ian added “As a charity, we agreed to purchase a minibus, which will provide transport for clients attending the Sybil Levin Centre from next month, which will increase our range of charitable services, to help reduce social isolation and loneliness.”

Linda Crick (Partnerships Director for Age UK Notts) says:
“This is a great example of charities bringing their specialisms together to provide better services for the benefit of older people. It’s a fantastic solution and an opportunity for Age UK Notts and Nottingham Community Transport to extend their services and work in true partnership style.”
