Community Gateway aims to support people over the age of 50 experiencing loneliness and isolation through companionship, community engagement and campaigning.

Phone Friend Service
Reaching out to those most vulnerable across the city experiencing loneliness and/or isolation, our Phone Friend Service can match an individual with one of our friendly volunteers. Calls enable our clients the comfort of a regular check in, companionship and the opportunity to access additional services as and when required.

Befriending Service
In 2022 Community Gateway plans to extend our phone friends service to an additional befriending service. This will be an opportunity for our phone friend clients to meet their phone friend volunteer in a safe space face to face.

Community Connecting
We aim to connect individuals with groups, activities and events that suit their needs and interests within the local community. We are currently mapping the city to discover what is available in the area, for people aged 50+ so we can signpost our clients to a range of options from Age UK Plymouth and other organisations.

Community Projects
Community Gateway is currently working in partnership with Plymouth City Council's Community Connections Youth Team on an intergenerational art project aiming to raise awareness around loneliness and isolation. An exhibition of the works created as part of the project will take place at the end of May, ahead of The Marmalade Trust's National Loneliness Awareness week running from 13th - 17th June 2022.
