Following our Annual General Meeting in November, Anne Wignall has decided to step down as a Trustee of Age UK Shropshire & Wrekin, but she will be leaving a lasting legacy.

Heather Osborne, Chief Executive, thanked Anne for her significant contribution to the charity by saying: “It would be hard to put into words just how much Anne has done for this charity. As a Trustee, Chair, President, volunteer, campaigner, and a passionate advocate for older people.”

“Trustees are a rare breed of volunteers who take on an enormous responsibility for the charity, giving their time and expertise freely. Anne was a Trustee for over 15 years and a volunteer befriender for even longer. During that time, she has made a huge impact on Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin. It was Anne’s wise guidance that persuaded us to invest in fundraising, which has brought significant income into the charity, so that we can help even more older people.”

“She is a dedicated fundraiser herself and, along with her colleagues in North Shropshire has raised well over £70,000 to help older people in the north of the county. But above all everything that Anne has done has been with care and kindness for older people and the staff and volunteers. Thank you, Anne, for everything, we owe you a huge debt of thanks.”
