A new way for people with dementia to get active

Older people exercising gently

Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin has teamed up with Telford & Wrekin Council to launch a brilliant new service for people with dementia and their carers.

Move to Thrive is all about gentle movement to music, led by a qualified instructor and specially designed for those with dementia. It’s a fun, relaxed way to get active, boost wellbeing, and connect with others.

Sessions takes place at Oakengates Rest Rooms every Tuesday from 10.45am – 12.00pm and every Thursday 1.20pm – 2.45pm.

Each session is just £5.00 per person and includes refreshments and time to socialise. Carers come along for free!

The project is also on the lookout for friendly volunteers to help out: welcoming people as they arrive, keeping an eye on how everyone’s doing, and encouraging chat and participation during the sessions. If you’d like to get involved, training and travel expenses are covered.

Whether you’re looking to join the sessions or lend a helping hand, Move to Thrive is a great way to get involved with your local community.

To book your place, and to make any necessary travel arrangements, call Community Resource 01743 360 641 or email enquiries@community-resource.org.uk

If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer for the project, please contact Sue Chalk at Community Resource, by email sue.chalk@community-resource.org.uk or calling 01743 342 168.
