A dedicated runner is tackling her first ever marathon in a bid to raise money to support vulnerable older people in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.
Caroline Moss is a Care Navigator for Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin and hopes to raise over a £1,000 in sponsorship for the charity by running 26 miles in the world famous London Marathon on 23 April 2017.
She has been training hard since Christmas and recently completed a run of 18 miles. Not only has she been doing that but she has also been fundraising by selling items at car boot sales and holding other events.
Caroline has been working for the charity for eight years and she sees first-hand what Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin does to improve the quality of life for older people in Shropshire. Based in various GP surgeries in the county, her role as a Care Navigator, involves supporting older people in the community and signposting them to services which can assist them to remain independent and healthy.
She says: ‘I am passionate about getting out into the community and supporting older people in many different ways. Most of our services are free to people who use them.
Throughout the years I have also volunteered with Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin as a Parish Link, and as a counsellor. I have seen how the charity does so much for older people, as well as supporting their families. Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin have also been very supportive to me as an employee and I want to give something back by running the London Marathon and raising as much as I can.
If you are thinking of donating then please do so as soon as you can: I have a lot to raise and your donations will spur me on!’
