If you are over 55-years-old and want to keep active and healthy, why not join a growing group of people who take part in walks around Shrewsbury?
Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin now run three walking groups a week, which explore the town and River Severn. The walks usually last about an hour and are between two and three miles in length.
Led by volunteer Walking for Health leaders, they aim to help older people to keep fit and active and have fun enjoying the company of others. Recent walks have explored the Belle Vue and Frankwell areas of the town and have been a great opportunity to explore lesser known routes and paths.
Walk leader, Chris Bell, leads walks on Tuesday mornings. He said, ‘It's a lovely way to meet new people and make friends while keeping active. We usually have eight to ten people on our walks and walk at a pace that everyone can manage. We have found some interesting routes through the quiet areas of the town and we all enjoy the coffee stops at the end!’
Walks take place on Monday, Tuesday and Friday mornings. If you’re interested in coming along call Susan Stefiuk on 01743 233 123.
