Make an older person's day by becoming a volunteerAge UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin is seeking sociable volunteer helpers for its Oswestry and St Martins day centres.

'The rural idyll can hide real loneliness, and our day centres are often a lifeline for isolated older people living in our region,' said Heather Osborne, Chief Executive of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin.

That's why we are looking for people who are happy to spare a few hours for a day each week or fortnightly in our day centres in St Martins and in Monkmoor Court, Oswestry.

We have 40 day centres open weekly around the county. They provide a weekly day out with transport and a hot meal, and social activities for older people who are on their own. Our volunteers welcome members, engage in conversation, serve refreshments, and help with social activities.

If this sounds up your street, and you would like to make an older person's day by becoming a volunteer, please call our volunteer recruitment team on 01743 588 570 for more information and an application pack. If you would just like to find out more about the role before making up your mind, that's fine, we can tell you all about it, and you could come along and meet the other volunteers and members of the day centre.
