Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin held a grand opening event on 4 April at our new charity furniture shop in Oswestry.
The shop on Smithfield Street is our third charity shop in the county. It is an exciting new venture for us as a local charity, which aims to serve the town’s community with high quality second-hand furniture, while at the same time raising vital funds to support local older people across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.
To celebrate the opening of our latest shop in Oswestry, the town Mayor, Councillor Paul Milner, attended as guest of honour and cut the ribbon at the shop.
Heather Osborne, Chief Executive of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, said, ‘We are delighted to have opened our furniture shop in Oswestry and it is proving to be very popular with people. Please do visit the shop and see what a great range of quality second hand furniture we have to offer.’
The shop sells a wide range of furniture from beds and wardrobes to sofas, dining tables, bookshelves and lamps. A free collection service is available for anyone wishing to donate any furniture and there is a delivery service too.
Due to popular demand, the shop is now also open every Monday (excluding bank holidays). The shop is open six days a week: Monday to Saturday, 9.30am-4.30pm.
If you would like to donate furniture or to volunteer in the new shop, please get in touch with the new charity shop on 01691 238 020. We are always looking for keen and enthusiastic people to help deliver and collect furniture on our van or work in the shop.
