Heather Osborne with competition winner Shannon Vaughan and Shannon's nan PaulineA photography competition run by Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin has been won by its youngest entrant.

Shannon Vaughan’s entry, ‘Pink Ladies’, came first in the competition to depict positive images of ageing.

The judges thought Shannon’s photo of her nan ready for a fancy-dress party summed up the idea that growing older doesn’t stop you having fun.

The winning entry in our 2016 photo competitionThe competition attracted nearly 40 entries, with judges praising the high standard of images, which ranged from older people climbing Snowdon to a sixty-plus rock band.

Shannon, from Telford, attended a small prize-giving party at Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin’s offices in Shrewsbury along with her nan, Pauline, where she was presented with her award and a certificate.

Kevin Moore, Director of Operations, who helped judge the competition said: ‘Shannon’s image was really natural and captured the fun that her nan was having at the party.’

A number of the images will be used in Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin’s publications to promote the work of the charity in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.
