Specsavers Solihull Hearing Centre has chosen Age UK Solihull as Charity of the Year for 2026, and marked the start of the year-long commitment to raising money and awareness with an in-store bake sale.
Nilam Yaqoob, audiology director at Specsavers Solihull said: “As an audiology team, we work closely with older people every day, so nominating a charity for 2026 that helps them stay connected, informed and supported feels especially meaningful to us.
“Age UK Solihull plays a vital role in the community, and this partnership allows us to give something back while helping more people understand the services and support available to them.”
The team say the partnership was a natural fit, having heard consistent praise from customers and residents about the work Age UK Solihull does to support older people, from reducing loneliness to providing practical advice and community services.
Age UK Solihull’s fundraising manager, Rebecca Jacob, said: “We’re thrilled to be chosen as Specsavers Solihull Hearing Centre’s Charity of the Year.
“Their support will make a real difference to the older people in our community who rely on us for companionship, advice, and practical help.
“Age UK Solihull is a local charity, and every pound raised stays right here in the borough to support older residents. We’re excited to work together throughout the year and are so grateful to the team for kicking things off with their recent bake sale.”
Throughout 2026, the audiology team will be promoting Age UK Solihull in store, running further fundraising activities and helping to raise awareness of the vital support available to older members of the Solihull community.
The partnership reflects the store’s ongoing commitment to supporting local causes and working closely with community organisations that make a meaningful difference to people’s lives.
