Our events are a great way to have fun while raising vital funds to help us help older people in the Solihull community. Read on to find out about the events we have held in the past.

  • Christmas Raffle

    Our Christmas Raffle 2020 raised a fantastic £1,063  which is our best year yet!

    Thanks to everyone who bought tickets and to all the local businesses who generously donated prizes, helping to raise such an incredible amount.

  • Virtual Balloon Race

    We entered an Online Balloon Race that set off from Harrods, London, on Tuesday 1 December 2020. Our supporters bought virtual balloons and, although unfortunately none of them won a prize, they helped to raise an impressive £135.24.

  • Online Quiz Night

    We held our third Online Quiz Night on Tuesday 20 October. Once again, Birmingham Business Park kindly sponsored the event, which was hosted by Stoo Pittaway. National Grid also supported it by putting in several teams. The event raised an impressive £116.

  • Slip Into Slippers

    Several schools, businesses and individuals, including lots of people working from home, wore their slippers on 1 October to mark International Day of Older Persons. Donations are still coming in, but over £1,200 has been raised so far.

  • "Virtually Impossible"

    On 27 August 2020, we hosted our very first Online Magic Show. Presented on Zoom by AG Magicians, the event involved clever trickery, audience participation and lots of fun. A total of £62 was raised.

  • Online Quiz Night

    After the success of our first one, we held another virtual quiz night on Tuesday 18 August. Once again, Stoo Pittaway hosted the evening and Birmingham Business Park generously sponsored the event, helping us to raise £84. Thanks to new Solihull gym, HITIO, for donating a three month family pass for first prize.

  • Online Quiz Night

    We had to cancel several fundraising events during the coronavirus crisis, but thanks to the wonders of technology, we held a virtual quiz night via Zoom on Thursday 11 June, with our trusted host, Stoo Pittaway. Birmingham Business Park kindly sponsored the quiz, and prizes were donated by Nurture Landscapes, Corporate Solutions (Logistics) Limited, Stonbury and Birmingham Business Park. It was a fantastic evening which raised a total of £208 was raised.

  • WEAAD

    We teamed up with Solihull Council's Safeguarding Adults Board and asked local care companies, other businesses and individuals to wear purple and donate in order to raise awareness of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on Monday 15 June 2020. Several groups got involved, including Prince of Wales Nursing Home (above), Sunrise Solihull, Lady Katherine Leveson Care Home, and Solihull Council, raising a brilliant £712.

  • Tesco Collection Day

    Volunteers, including Rachel and Chris from GoodGym Solihull (pictured), stood holding buckets at Tesco Extra, Stratford Road, collecting change from shoppers.

    They collected £227 throughout the day, all of which will stay in Solihull to help us provide vital services for local older and vulnerable people.

  • Smartphone Quiz

    Our 6th Smartphone Quiz took place at Resorts World. Ticket sales, the raffle and generous sponsorship from Resorts World and Birmingham Business Park, plus matched funding from Barclays meant that an impressive £2,000 was raised.

  • Birmingham International Railway Station Collection Day

    Volunteers collected change from visitors to the Spring Fair at the NEC. £118 was collected in total.

  • Quiz Night

    We held a traditional Quiz Night at Boston Tea Party, Solihull, on Tuesday 22 October 2019. Thanks to the raffle and match funding from Barclays and Santender, a fantastic £1,023 was raised from the event.

  • Great Birmingham Run

    Five runners braved the rain and completed this run through Birmingham, Edgbaston and Bournville, in aid of Age UK Solihull. Over £1,350 was raised in total!

  • Slip Into Slippers

    Slip Into Slippers was once again a great success, with people from seven schools and six local businesses wearing their slippers for the day and donating £1. A brilliant total of £1,474.42 was raised this year.

  • Smartphone Quiz

    Our 5th Smartphone Quiz took place on Tuesday 16 July 2019 at The Core, Solihull Library. Ticket sales, the raffle and matched funding from Barclays meant that over £1,351 was raised.

  • WEAAD

    Staff at local care companies wore purple on Friday 14 June 2019 to mark World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (which fell on Saturday 15 June) and paid £1 each. The event raised £940.85.

  • Birmingham International Railway Station Collection Day

    Volunteers collected change from visitors to the BBC Gardeners’ World Live/Good Food Show at the NEC on Friday 14 June 2019. £249.86 was collected in total.

  • Friends of Age UK Solihull Comedy Night

    The first event organised by the Friends of Age UK Solihull took place on Friday 10 May 2019. It was a huge success, raising £1,267.
