Many of us wish to make a lasting difference. By choosing to leave a gift in your Will to Age UK Surrey, you are leaving behind a legacy of kindness.

You can be certain that your legacy will bring comfort, support and friendship to some of the most vulnerable older people, here in Surrey, when they need it most.

Together we can make a bigger difference:

  • Information and Advice

Last year 2,530 clients made use of our Information & Advice service.  We helped clients in Surrey claim £1.7m of additional benefits.

    TOGETHER we can deliver more.

  • Telephone Befriending

Last year, 200 clients were supported by our Check-in and Chat telephone befriending Service.

TOGETHER we can help fight loneliness.

A gift in YOUR Will could help a man like Jim transform his later life.

Age UK Surrey gives men like Jim a place to belong, to feel included, and valued in later life. When despair was threatening, Jim took action by joining one of our Men in Shed’s sessions and never looked back.

“I finished work when I was 74, and then I sat at home, bored and didn’t know what to do.  I said to my partner, who was working, that I felt as if I was buried alive!”

“It was the best thing I’ve done.  I came here, and I’ve met some blokes, and we’ve been out on some outings.  I enjoy coming here; it breaks the week up, and I learn quite a bit.”

With YOUR legacy of kindness, older adults like Sandra are able to rebuild confidence and friendships in the community.

“When you don’t work, you lose your friends because there’s nowhere to make friends, but now I have a Clockhouse Community Centre full of friends, both volunteers and clients.  It has suddenly opened everything for me, and I’ve become the person I was when I was working.

At the Clockhouse, we get a warm welcome, and we get the feeling we can relax when we walk through the door.  There’s a sense of belonging which is important.  People need to know that instead of sitting alone on their own at home, they can come here, take part in the activities, and just enjoy a bit of time being sociable and not being insular, those are the things that are really important. I’d be lost without it - I just don’t know what I’d do!”

Why us?

Age UK Surrey is an independent charity that provides services across the whole of the county to help people aged 50+ make the most of their lives. We have been working across our local community for over 80 years. We are responsible for raising our funding, and 100% of the funds we raise stay here in Surrey to help the people of Surrey.

We have strong partnerships in the county, including those with Surrey County Council, the University of Surrey, and the local NHS.

Age UK Surrey provides a myriad of services to older people and their families throughout the county:

  • We provide information and advice, including information about benefit checks, which could result in extra income for someone who is struggling financially

  • We provide Check-in and Chat telephone befriending services where our volunteers work with people experiencing loneliness in the community

  • We offer home support services to assist with cleaning, shopping, companionship, and gardening

  • We provide dozens of activities and events to combat loneliness, improve physical and mental fitness, learn new skills, and encourage community connections

  • We provide dementia support services that offer Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (MCST) classes to those with dementia and run dementia friendship groups.

Our vision is for a county where older people can live well and make the most of later life.
