Dame Judi Dench becomes Patron for Age UK York

As York's local Age UK, we are thrilled that award winning actress Dame Judi Dench is our Patron and part of our team in together supporting older people, and those around them, here across York.

Upon kindly taking up the role of Patron of Age UK York Dame Judi said:

For over 50 years Age UK York has existed to support local people and communities across York and continues today. Together we strive to address the challenges faced by too many older residents, and indeed those around them, including financial insecurity, loneliness and social isoltion. 

Together we can 'Stamp Out Loneliness'

The scurge of loneliness is one facing so many here in York and across the Country. In our City over a third of older people live alone and 25% of residents said that they experience loneliness. 

This winter, many older people in York will stuggle with loneliness, isolation and poverty.

Dame Judi Dench has kindly given her support to Age UK York's Stamp Out Loneliness Campaign. Every penny raised goes right back to delivering local services supporting local people in need across York.  She said: “
