School children across York are kindly Stamping Out Loneliness by creating cards to send to those who are alone this Christmas
As we start Advent, Christmas for so many is a time of family, company and joy. However, 1.5 million older people will be earting dinner alone on Christmas Day including thousands here in York.
Loneliness and Social Isolation are issues all year, but winter, and christmas especially be particularly tough. Age UK York has launched our Winter Campaign as together we can Stamp Out Loneliness.
We are so grateful to primary school children from across York who are kindly designing and creating their own Christmas cards that will be sent to older people living alone here across York.
Each day our team at York's independent local Age UK charity provide help to older people across our City including our dedicated Befriending service providing vital connection and companionship.
Our Patron Dame Judi Dench, who was born in York, supports this fantastic local effort to tackle loneliness together and how an act of kindness can help brighten someone's day and remind them that they are not forgotten this Christmas.
