Occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary, for which time off in lieu on an hour-by-hour basis is allowed.

JOB SUMMARY

 

  • Age UK Berkshire is a local charity delivering a portfolio of services to improve the lives of local older people, including people with dementia and carers.

 

  • The Services Manager is part of a small management team and will be responsible for the implementation, management and development of Age UK Berkshire’s services.

 

  • Main duties are: - Service management and development, Human Resources/staff management, Quality Management, liaison with commissioners and key stakeholders.

 

  • We deliver a wide range of services and activities including: a Home from Hospital service (helping people to return home after a hospital stay, including shopping, help with medical appointments etc), Dementia Services and activities including Dementia Cafes and music groups, Carers support events and networks, and Telephone and Face to Face Befriending, and a Keeping in Touch project.

 

 

Main Duties:

 

Service management

  • Overall responsibility for the management and accountability for the performance of a portfolio of services
  • Producing monitoring and evaluation reports
  • Budget management for selected services
  • Ensuring services are delivered in line with Health and Safety requirements and that appropriate risk assessments are completed.

 

Human resources

  • Line managing the team who deliver the services which fall within your remit, including regular supervision, appraisals, team meetings, training and support
  • Work with the Operations Manager to support staff recruitment processes
  • Delivery of staff induction for new team members
  • Carry out of DBS checks on staff and volunteers, as appropriate

 

Contract management

 

  • Act as the main contact for contracts and service level agreements, including being accountable for performance
  • Work with local stakeholders to promote the work, services and activities of Age UK Berkshire
  • Work with the CEO to prepare relevant tender/ grant and contract documents
  • Be the key contact for services delivered in partnership, ensuring partnership building and liaison with funding bodies
  • Work with marketing coordinator to update marketing materials and plan communications for services

 

Quality Management

  • Ensuring Age UK Berkshire’s services are compliant with the terms of contracts
  • Office management, sustaining and improving efficiency and productivity
  • Lead at Multi-Disciplinary Team, case management and services team meetings

 

Other

 

  • To be part of the senior management team and attend/lead meetings accordingly
  • Be an active and supportive member of the Age UK Berkshire team, contributing to the team’s development and working collaboratively with colleagues and volunteers
  • To undertake relevant training to maintain skills and knowledge necessary for this post
  • To comply with all Age UK Berkshire policies and procedures and with all relevant legislation
  • To carry out any other duties, commensurate with the rate of pay and grading, as may from time to time be assigned by the Directors of Age UK Berkshire
