Could you support us to improve the lives of older people?

Published on 16 June 2021 02:23 PM

Age UK Bristol (AUKB) is a local, independent charity that has been working to support older people, their families and carers to enjoy later life since 1994. To meet the challenges brought about by the global pandemic, we are now refreshing our board of trustees and seeking a new Treasurer to guide the charity in its next stage

In a year of difficult challenges brought about by COVID-19, AUKB has had to innovate under pressure, leading us to explore exciting new opportunities and to find better ways to meet the needs of older people in Bristol, even in extreme circumstances.

With a recently refreshed Board and management team, AUKB are enthusiastically working to ‘build back better’ following this difficult year and are now seeking to recruit diverse talent to the Board. In particular, AUKB are looking for:

1 x Treasurer
1 x Trustee (general)

If you have a background in Finance, your skills are invaluable to the voluntary sector. If you would like to develop your leadership potential and use your experience to help repair the damage done from a year of social isolation enforced on older people, we would love to hear from you today.

What our trustees have said:

Chair of Trustees, Mina Malpass says, “I joined Age UK Bristol five years ago because I was so impressed with how such a small organisation seemed able to achieve so much. Their success with Bristol Ageing Better (BAB) has brought so much value to many other older people’s organisations across the whole of Bristol. It inspired me to want to be part of this lively, vibrant and very local organisation.”

Previous Treasurer, Geoff Clements (pictured above) also shared his experience, “I was treasurer at Age UK Bristol for some 10 years, and it was always a stimulating experience. I was always conscious that the work the charity was undertaking was vital to the older people of Bristol, and that we had to keep on providing those services as best we could. My fellow Trustees and the staff were inspirational to work with, and it was very rewarding to hear the experiences of those we were able to help.”
