Love Later Life Festival

This autumn we will once again be teaming up with Storyhouse, Chester to reach out to Chester’s older residents with our annual Love Later Life festival.  There are activities running across several dates in October, with Age UK Cheshire co-hosting on Monday 21st October.  It promises to be fun, creative and informative. 

Monday 21 October  

The Festival day which will include a Market place, Poetry Open Mic and Music.  

Rock Choir Workshop, Garret Theatre, 10.45am (60 mins), free . Booking recommended   

Join Rock Choir for a fun-filled free singing workshop. No need to read music or have any previous singing experience.Choir leader Kathryn Davies will teach you a song in 3 part harmony that you will perform with the main choir in the Kitchen.   Rock Choir are supporting BBC World Music Day which is focusing on the benefits music brings to people, especially those in later life or with dementiaRock Choir is the pioneering contemporary choir of the UK and remains unique with over 20,000, members enjoying it across the UK.Afterwards, you have the opportunity to perform what you have learnt in The Kitchen at Storyhouse at 12noon.

Rock Choir Performance, The Kitchen, 12.30 (30 mins) free. Just drop-in no need to book  

Led by Kathryn Davies, Rock Choir will be singing a selection of pop and rock songs from the 70s through to today’s hits!  Rock Choir is a pioneering contemporary choir, with over 20,000, members enjoying it across the UK. They are supporting BBC World Music Day which is focusing on the benefits music brings to people, especially those in later life or with dementia.

St Werburgh’s & St Columba’s Catholic Primary School Choir, The Kitchen, 1.30pm (30 mins) free. Just drop-in no need to book  

The children from St Werburgh’s & St Columba’s CatholicPrimary School Choir will perform some of their favourite songs. 

Poetry Open Mic Afternoon, Garret Theatre, 2.30pm (60 mins) free. Just drop-in no need to book  

Take the stage and perform a poem, song, monologue or stand up routine! The open mic afternoon needs performers and audience so please come along even if you aren’t a performer. 

Chester Song Writers, The Kitchen, 4pm (60 mins) free  

Performers from Chester Song Writers will be performing a free gig to bring the Love Later Life day to a close.Expect soft, inviting, rocky and sometimes driving lyrics alongside guitar and keyboard.Artists Chris Howarth and Phillip Allen will perform some of their own songs plus some covers.

Use our ticket kiosks in the Storyhouse building to book any tickets. Ticketing assistance is on hand in the building to help if you’d rather talk to someone.

To be as green and efficient as possible, we use e-tickets when you book online or over the phone. If you don’t have an e-mail address, we can issue you with your Sale ID to collect your tickets from the venue (we always have details of everyone booked at the event, just in case!).
