Enabling Connectors Volunteer
Role Context
Age UK Ealing is dedicated to improving the lives of older people across the borough. Enabling Connections is a structured, time-limited programme supporting older people experiencing loneliness and social isolation to build confidence, strengthen social connections and access activities, services and opportunities within their local community.
Purpose of the role
To support older people to achieve personal goals, increase confidence and become more connected to their local community.Working alongside the Enabling Connections Coordinator, volunteers will provide encouragement, companionship and practical support to help individuals improve their wellbeing and independence.
What you will be doing:
- Supporting Goal Setting: Work with your matched client to identify personal goals such as increasing confidence, accessing local activities or building social connections.
- Create a Plan: Help break larger goals into smaller, achievable steps and encourage progress over time.
- Build Confidence: Support clients to access local groups, activities and services, accompanying them where appropriate until they feel confident participating independently.
- Encourage Progress: Celebrate achievements and provide encouragement to help clients stay motivated and focused on their goals.
- Support Independence: Help clients develop the confidence, skills and connections needed to maintain community involvement and independence beyond the programme.
- Provide Updates: Maintain regular contact with the Enabling Connections Coordinator and report on progress, outcomes and any concerns.
- Promote Wellbeing and Safety: Report any safeguarding, health or wellbeing concerns in line with Age UK Ealing policies and procedures.

- Focused: You can keep your weekly chats and outings centred around the goal you agreed.
- Reliable: You can show up consistently for the short time your match is counting on you.
- Good with Boundaries: You understand the value of a short-term boost and can help someone transition away from the service without creating dependency.
- Local Savvy: You know your local area well or are happy to research.

Location: Across London Borough of Ealing
Time involved: A commitment of 2-3 hours weekly for up to 24 weeks per client match.
