To help older people with Dementia maintain their dignity and independence by assisting at our Weekend Day Care Service, helping to provide a friendly atmosphere for older people to meet and enjoy each other’s company.

What a Weekend Day Care Service Volunteer does:

• Establish, maintain, and develop relationships with users within the centre

• Aid with domestic tasks including serving hot drinks and meals.

• Report any concerns about the safety, health, or well-being of service users

• Helps and support older people to participate in a range of activities to provide social interaction and stimulation.

 

Personal qualities most suited to this role:

• A liking for and empathy with older people

• Understands the need for confidentiality

• Enjoys working as part of a team

• Reliability and trustworthiness

• An interest in developing activities for older people

How much time is involved?

Timings Saturday/Sunday 9.30am – 1pm or 1pm – 4.30pm or an all-day Volunteering opportunity. Expenses and Insurance: We will cover agreed out-of-pocket expenses for volunteers (e.g., travel costs). A DBS police check certificate will be required. We can help you to obtain a free but compulsory DBS police Check.
