As you may have read, we're moving to a new location and to a building which will be known as The Mabel Churn Centre.   The building, which was originally known as the Rose Taylor Centre, is ideally suited to being our new dementia day centre and main office.

The move will enable us to take on more clients and reach out to more older people in the Borough with all the health and well-being activities, advice, and information we offer.

You can read the formal announcement by clicking on this link.

The refurbishment work which is being undertaken now on-site will upgrade the facility to reflect the modern-day needs and legal requirements of a dementia centre.   It is taking into account feedback received from our clients as well as insights from our qualified and dedicated day-care team who care for them.

It is a spacious building with a lot of natural light and even includes a courtyard and dedicated outdoor space. Its design reflects the needs of those who are restricted in movement or are wheelchair bound - for example there is a slope to the main entrance. Accessibility is a key aspect of the refurbishment plans and we will look to make the building dementia friendly through the use of colour.

As you'll see from the images, much is being done but there is much more to do!   Monies raised will be used in all aspects of the building's infrastructure and design - from lighting to security, from chairs and tables to crockery and kitchen equipment, from activity packs and exercise equipment to plants and gardening tools, from shelving and cabinets to IT and utility work, from chairs and tables to pictures and paint, the list is endless - and your support will help make it all possible.   Donations can be made via this link and gifts of £500 or more will be accredited to the giver on our donor wall which will be sited in the main reception area.

The move marks a significant step forward in our mission to support and enrich the lives of older residents across the Borough.

When Will It Open?

The dementia day-care centre will open on Monday, 27th October.   Our clients are in direct contact with our Head of Care Services, Venetta Hunt and she can be contacted at venetta.hunt@ageukenfield.org.uk or by calling 020 8351 1131 if you have any queries..

The Charity's central services will move in around this time too with Prevention Services later in 2026.

About Mabel Churn and The Mabs Mardulyn Charitable Foundation

Where We’re Moving To

Our new location, when we move in October, will be in Brimsdown at 55b The Sunny Road, Enfield EN3 5EF.

Earlier News ..... About The Centre

The Mabel Churn Centre, as it will be known, was designed as a daycare centre. It’s got a fantastic floor plan that’s perfect for us to transform into a modern dementia care centre. But here’s the catch: the building’s been closed for almost two years now.  So, we’ve got a lot of work to do to bring it up to scratch to meet all the latest standards and legal requirements.

We're delighted to say that the first phase of work has started through a generous donation from the Mabs Mardulyn Charitable Foundation so when we move in, in October 2025, the essential elements will have been completed.
