We are very excited to announce the relocation of our dementia day care service and prevention services to an established purpose-built building. This marks a significant step forward in our mission to support and enrich the lives of older residents across the Borough.

Why We’re Moving
When Enfield Council announced its intention to close the Parker Centre in Edmonton and repurpose the use of the John Jackon Library in Bush Hill Park, we took this as an opportunity to fulfil one of our ambitions – to find a new location that would enable us to increase the number of dementia day care client we can accommodate as well as reaching more people with the vital services we provide.
Age UK Enfield's building at the new location will be called The Mabel Churn Centre.
About Mabel Churn and The Mabs Mardulyn Charitable Foundation
Where We’re Moving To
Our new location, when we move in October, will be in Brimsdown at 55b The Sunny Road, Enfield EN3 5EF.
About The Centre
The Mabel Churn Centre, as it will be known, was designed as a daycare centre. It’s got a fantastic floor plan that’s perfect for us to transform into a modern dementia care centre. But here’s the catch: the building’s been closed for almost two years now. So, we’ve got a lot of work to do to bring it up to scratch to meet all the latest standards and legal requirements.
We're delighted to say that the first phase of work has started through a generous donation from the Mabs Mardulyn Charitable Foundation so when we move in, in October 2025, the essential elements will have been completed.
But there is much more to be done and this is why we're asking for donations.
The building, which is larger than our current locations combined, offers a lot of opportunity. However, we are not able to financially do everything at once so the first phase of activity will focus on the creation of the dementia day care and home care services.
About The Refurbishment
This building is much bigger than our old one, and it’ll make our work environment so much better! It’ll also give us the chance to take on more clients and reach out to more older people in the Borough with all the fun activities, advice, and information we offer.
It is a spacious building with a lot of natural light and even includes a courtyard and dedicated outdoor space. Its design reflects the needs of those who are restricted in movement or are wheelchair bound - for example there is a slope to the main entrance. Accessibility is a key aspect of the refurbishment plans and we will look to make the building dementia friendly through the use of colour.
Monies raised will be used in all aspects of the building's infrastructure and design - from lighting to security, from chairs and tables to crockery and kitchen equipment, from activity packs and exercise equipment to plants and gardening tools, from shelving and cabinets to IT and utility work, from chairs and tables to pictures and paint, the list is endless - and your support will help make it all possible. Donations can be made via this link and gifts of £500 or more will be accredited to the giver on our donor wall which will be sited in the main reception area.
Age UK Enfield, although part of the Age UK national network, is an independent charity and has to raise its own funds to survive and deliver the many services benefiting the older community of the Borough.
