Brainwaves has been set up to help people experiencing problems with their memory. This club aims to encourage members to participate in purposeful activity in order to develop or maintain active minds.

How can we help?

Brainwaves is available to individuals living with memory loss, Mild-Cognitive Impairment, or earlier stages of dementia. The sessions are modelled on a Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) model, which incorporate purposeful activities to maintain active minds. The groups offer the opportunity for people living with dementia or memory loss to come together in a social environment, to take part in stimulating and enjoyable activities to promote physical and mental wellbeing, and provide families or carers with a short period of respite.

Each week is based upon a different theme or topic, with activities including music, reminiscence, quizzes, word games, discussions, and chair-based physical activity.

Our team can also crucially provide signposting or information in finding further support services available.

What our aim is?

Our aim is for people with dementia and their carers to have choice and control as well as remaining independently in their own homes for as long as possible. Brainwaves provides the opportunity for them to recall or develop new skills in activities and to facilitate the transfer of these skills to activities at home.

We are not able to provide personal care or 1-1 support at clubs.
