Temperature Check Your Winter: Helping you stay warm, well and connected

Published on 28 October 2026 12:56 PM

As the colder months approach, Age UK Norfolk is launching its Temperature Check Your Winter campaign, sharing practical advice, support and ways to get involved to help older people across Norfolk stay warm, well and connected throughout winter.

Winter can bring extra challenges, from managing household costs and looking after our health to staying in touch with others when the weather makes getting out and about more difficult. Taking a few simple steps early can help us feel better prepared and know where to turn if we need support.

Running over Winter 2026-2027, our campaign brings together advice, information about our services and opportunities for everyone to make a difference in their community.

We'll explore ways to build connections and how a small gesture can make a big difference. We'll be sharing more advice and information throughout the campaign, so keep an eye on our website and social media channels.

Community Challenge: Who's your winter check-in?

This winter, we're inviting everyone across Norfolk to think about one person they could check in on.

Could you call an older relative, visit a neighbour, invite someone for a coffee, help someone get to an activity or simply take the time to stop, chat and listen?

You could also ask if they're managing to keep warm at home or help them find advice and support if they need it.

You don't have to do something big. A little time, a friendly conversation or a thoughtful check-in could help someone feel more connected this winter.

We're here to help
