Age UK Norwich is inviting the community to celebrate a milestone 80 years of service with a special Open Day at Bishop’s Garden on Sunday, 1st June 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM – a key event in their year-long 80th birthday celebrations.

Set against the stunning backdrop of one of Norwich’s most iconic gardens, this family-friendly event promises something for everyone, including:

  • Live Music & Entertainment
  • Games & Kids' Activities
  • A Lush Plant Sale
  • Delicious Refreshments
  • Community Stalls & More

The event is part of Age UK Norwich’s ambitious £80,000 fundraising target for 2025, with every penny raised going directly to support vital services for older people in the city. Entry is £5 per person, with free admission for children under 16 and wheelchair users. Last entry is at 4:00 PM.

The gardens are opened each year to charities who have applied to be a part of these iconic showcases. Taking place over a number of Sundays across summer, Age UK Norwich is thrilled to have been chosen as a supported charity. With volunteers from Aviva Norwich supporting the event, as well as local group Fine City Strummers and Reflex Theatre offering up the entertainment for the day.

Dan Skipper Age UK Norwich CEO said “This year, we’re not only looking back on 80 years of incredible community support – we’re looking forward to what we can achieve together in the next 80. The Bishop’s Garden Open Day is a brilliant way to celebrate and raise funds for the essential work we do every day. Fundraising is becoming more and more vital to us as a charity, with reliance on our local community to support one another being essential.”

The charity is using the backdrop of their 80th birthday to highlight the real and important need of the people they support, highlighting issues around frailty, prevention and how important community services are to the support of our health and care services.

The Bishop’s Garden event is just one highlight in a series of events marking Age UK Norwich’s 80th year. Other upcoming activities include community walks, fundraising dinners, and special public talks celebrating ageing positively. More details and the full events calendar can be found on our website
