Around 150 Aviva employees from across Norwich are preparing to take on a cycling challenge on 18 September to raise funds for Age UK Norwich.
On 18 September, riders will set off from Aviva’s Norwich city centre office, cycling via the coast and the Norfolk Broads.
Distances range from 25km to 150km, offering something for cyclists of all abilities.
Aviva staff voted to fundraise for Age UK Norwich, helping the charity achieve its goal of raising £80,000 in its 80th birthday year.
Organisers have already raised £14,000 ahead of the challenge, with Aviva pledging to match up to £1000 of donations per colleague.
Employees from Aviva’s York office will also be taking part in a cycling challenge on Thursday 25 September after raising £39,000 with a matched donation last year.
Aviva employees are given 21 hours of paid volunteer leave to support initiatives in their local communities.
Alex Blake, Norwich Community Impact Manager at Aviva, said:
“It’s fantastic to see Aviva colleagues using their volunteering hours to take on this epic challenge, all in support of a brilliant local charity. This challenge is just one way we are making a real difference in our local community, helping people get ready for the future. And with Aviva pledging to match donations up to £1,000 per employee, we’re looking forward to helping even more people across the region.”
Dan Skipper, Chief Executive Officer of AGE UK Norwich, said:
“As we celebrate our 80th year as a charity, we’re overwhelmed by the support of Aviva staff in fundraising for Age UK Norwich - it’s a wonderful example of a local business helping a local charity to help local people. Staying active is one of the most powerful ways to age well, and it’s inspiring to see so many Aviva employees leading by example. Good luck to all the riders and supporters - have fun!”
