Helen’s HYROX Success

Published on 30 March 2026 02:43 PM

Age UK Norwich is proud to celebrate one of our own, Helen, a dedicated Health Coach, who has marked her 60th birthday in an extraordinary way by successfully completing a HYROX fitness event alongside her youngest daughter.

HYROX, known for its intense combination of endurance running and strength-based challenges, is no small feat. Completing it requires months of training, determination, and resilience - and Helen rose to the challenge with incredible commitment.

For Helen, this achievement was about far more than crossing the finish line. As a Health Coach, she supports older people across Norwich every day to build strength, confidence, and independence. By taking on HYROX herself, she has shown that her message is more than words - it’s something she lives and proves.

What made the event even more special was sharing the experience with her youngest daughter. Taking on such a demanding challenge together created a powerful moment of connection across generations, demonstrating that age is no barrier to pushing yourself and achieving something remarkable.

“It was tough, but incredibly rewarding,”

Helen said after the event.

I wanted to show that turning 60 doesn’t mean slowing down. You can still set goals, challenge yourself, and achieve things you might never have thought possible."

Helen’s journey reflects the very heart of Age UK Norwich’s mission in supporting people to live well, stay active, and feel empowered at every stage of life. Through her determination, she has challenged stereotypes around ageing and inspired those around her to think differently about what later life can look like.

Alongside this personal milestone, Helen also raised vital funds for Age UK Norwich, helping to ensure that older people in our community can access essential services, stay connected, and remain independent.
