Iris, 82, eats only one meal a day, showers just once a fortnight, and is so worried about energy costs that she never turns the heating on.

Iris has cut back on every expense possible. But as the cost of living crisis continues, Iris still can't afford her bills.

No older person should be forced to live this way.

Terry, is 98, she was just 17 when she enlisted in the army eventually becoming part of a team responsible for creating a way to waterproof the landing craft used in Normandy on D-Day.

Since the deaths of both her husband and son, she can go a week without speaking to anyone or hearing another person’s voice.

“Loneliness is horror," says Terry. "It feels awful.”
