Get ready for an unforgettable adventure! A £40 non refundable registration fee secures your spot for the abseil event. We ask all participants to raise a minimum fundraising target of £200, which covers the cost of your abseil and raises essential funds for Age UK Plymouth.
Here's the plan:
- Pay at least 50% (£100) of your fundraising goal at least two weeks before the event to secure your place.
- The remaining funds should reach Age UK Plymouth within four weeks of the event.
- Payment is easy through Localgiving, or you can send cheques (made payable to AGE UK PLYMOUTH) or ask for BACS details. Just please don't send cash in the mail!
You don't have to be a fitness fanatic to participate! However, you should have decent mobility - like being able to walk up a flight of stairs, jump a foot off the ground, and climb over small obstacles.
There will also be a steep climb to the top of the waterfall.
If you have any doubt about your fitness/mobility to participate in the abseil, please consult Dave Talbot themselves or your doctor if necessary.
Dave Talbot Ltd insists upon the very highest standards in safety for all taking part in their outdoor activities. The abseil events involve an element of risk which makes them challenging, exciting and facilitates personal development. However, the safety of everyone involved is an absolute priority and Dave Talbot Ltd ensures the level of risk is acceptable and appropriate safety standards are maintained at all times.
Dave Talbot Ltd reserves the right to prevent any person or persons, from participating in the event if they are found to be behaving inappropriately or in a manner that is detrimental to the safe provision of the event. This includes those individuals that are suspected of being under the influence of drink or drugs. Staff are in continuous communiation via two-way radios to ensure the safety and control of all participants.
As recommended by the British Mountaineering Council, Dave Talbot Ltd always consider possible safety issues that may arise for members of the public/onlookers not involved in the event as well as particpants who are waiting. They ensure that the landing area is cordoned off/controlled and all staff within the area wear helmets to protect against injury from any falling debris. All participants and instructors will be secured before any approach to a drop/edge.
As the event takes place at Canonteign Falls, a local attraction, entry to the grounds is free for partipants only. A 50% discount will be offered to those who wish to come and watch those taking part in the abseil.
Tickets need to be purchased ahead of the day, online:
