Age UK Portsmouth is proud to have achieved the Age UK Charity Quality Standard for local Age UKs.

These standards require us to demonstrate that we:

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of older people.
  • Involve older people in planning what we do.
  • Value and respect the diversity and individuality of older people.
  • Encourage, listen to and act on feedback to ensure what we provide is accessible and relevant.
  • Understand our legal responsibilities and ensure we are well governed and managed.
  • Plan and review our activities carefully and make effective use of our resources to meet need in a cost-effective way.
  • Value our volunteers and staff, ensuring we have the right people with the right skills and support to deliver our plans.
  • Achieve better outcomes for older people through building effective relationships with other bodies.

Endorsed by the Charity Commission

Age UK’s Charity Quality Standard is endorsed by the Charity Commission, the regulatory body for charities.

The Commission’s endorsement is granted to quality systems that test for the key aspects of a charity’s governance that are most likely to produce a well-run, accountable and sustainable organisation, and that meet its challenging benchmark for making a comprehensive, robust and objective assessment of how charities are run.
