Catering Team Member

 

Based at: The Bradbury Centre, 16-18 Kingston Road, Portsmouth PO1 5RZ

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £11.44 an hour (£22,010.56 Full Time Equivalent)

Hours: 15 hours per week (shift work, includes weekends and public holidays)

Annual leave: 5.6 weeks (no statutory entitlement to public holidays)

Purpose of the Job

The Catering Team Member is responsible for supporting the day-to-day running and organisation of the 365-day per year Meals on Wheels service and café. The successful applicant will be joining the Catering and Café team and will help to shape the operation and embed the charity’s culture and values.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Food preparation including peeling and chopping vegetables
  • Supporting the cooking and plating process for approximately 70-80 meals a day
  • Maintaining a clean and organised working environment including ongoing washing of dishes and equipment
  • Support with serving of light meals and refreshments in the Café
  • Serving our customers and treating them with dignity and care
  • Work with and report to the Catering and Café Manager / Catering Team Leader
  • To be trustworthy and fully competent in the handling of cash/cards via till and card terminal
  • To assist in making sure the café environment is always attractive, hygienic and clean

Person Specification

    • Food Safety Level 2 Certificate
    • Experience in a food service role including light food and hot food preparation
    • The ability to communicate and organise effectively
    • Understanding of Health and Safety Regulations and legislation in relation to the kitchen environment including HACCP and FSA
    • To have worked with different EPOS and till systems
    • Calm and constructive approach to work
    • Be able to work under own initiative
    • Responsible, flexible and conscientious attitude to work
    • Empathy with older persons
    • Customer service skills whilst being a positive representative of Age UK Portsmouth
    • Car owner/driver would be preferable

Home Services Supporter - Domestic Chores, Shopping and Client Support

 

Hours: Part Time 16 hours per week contract

Salary: £11.44 per hour

Based in: Waterlooville/Havant

Job Description

Age UK Portsmouth’s Help Around the Home service provides practical help and support to hundreds of adults and we are looking to grow our team!

We often have flexible working hours available across South East Hampshire.

The role requires an enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check.

Purpose of the Job

Home Services Supporters (HSS) provide regular and on-going practical help, companionship and assistance with everyday living around the home and out in the community. You need to be approachable, empathetic and enthusiastic.

Main Duties

      • To carry out allocated tasks within the agreed timescales meeting the high standards required by AUKP.
      • To develop a rapport and understanding with the individual to ensure they feel safe and are supported in a way that meets their needs and aspirations.
      • To carry out the agreed tasks appropriate to each client upon instruction, which might include a range of responsibilities such as household chores (75% of the work), shopping (accompanied and unaccompanied), accompanied appointments, assistance with correspondence and companionship including supporting clients to attend/participate in social activities. From time to time you may be asked to carry out additional tasks.
      • No personal care will ever be undertaken.
      • To undertake Spring Cleans (more in depth clean) when requested.
      • Report any client concerns and immediately report hazards, faulty equipment and any incidents to the Home Services office.
      • To contribute to the monitoring of wellbeing and safeguarding of clients and to inform the Home Services office of any changes.
      • Accept workload allocated from the Home Services office, understanding that from time to time you may be asked to cover further afield in the case of an emergency.
      • To ensure your weekly timesheet is submitted as agreed with your Services Co-ordinator.
      • You may be required to handle client payments for their service which will need to be handed into the Home Services office, located in The Bradbury Centre.
      • You will be expected to maintain our Confidentiality as well as General Data Protections Regulations (GDPR) policies at all times, including the secure storage of client details.
      • Occasionally you will be expected to attend meetings and training courses as required.
      • You may be requested to distribute Age UK Portsmouth literature.
