Day centre goes back to school

Day centre members with school pupil

It was back to school for 13 members of our Greenacres Day Centre when they visited Shrewsbury High Prep School for lunch in May.

Year 5 pupils helped serve a lunch of soup, pasta and Victoria sponge, with tea and coffee, whilst chatting happily to older people who attend the day centre.

Deirdre McDonogh, the day centre’s organiser, was delighted with the visit: ‘The children were polite, well-mannered and very interested in their guests. In turn, our members loved interacting with the children. It was such a treat and one we hope to repeat in the future.’

Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin run 38 day centres across the county, offering a friendly day out for older people who cannot easily get about. If you’d like to find out more call us on 01743 233 123.
