Fundraising freefall for Age UK

Skydiving fundraiser Sally Raw-Rees

Published on 14 August 2019 03:15 PM

Fearless fundraiser Sally Raw-Rees raised over £900 for older people in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin by turning her dream of falling from the sky into reality.

With the help of Skydive Tilstock Freefall Club, Sally jumped from a plane in a tandem skydive at 10,000 feet giving her 30 seconds of freefall, before landing at Tilstock Airfield in Whitchurch.

When Sally’s father passed away, it left her mother struggling with her bereavement and confused by her new financial situation. Sally’s mum turned to us and it was the support she received from our Information and advice team that gave Sally the motivation to carry out her daring dream.

Sally said: ‘Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin has been a listening service for our family and they helped my mother to take control and access the help she needed to move forward with her life.’

Heather Osborne, Chief Executive of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, said: ‘We are delighted to see Sally take on something so extraordinary and exhilarating in support of older people, we send huge thanks to Sally and all her family and friends who supported her fundraiser.’
