A tribute to John Greenhalgh

Life Vice President and long-time supporter of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, John Greenhalgh unexpectedly passed away last month.

Heather Osborne, Chief Executive of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin said: ‘John was one of the kindest and nicest people I have ever met and his, and his wife Christine’s, contribution and support for the charity was immense, stretching back over decades. John has in his time been Trustee, Chair, President and recently Life Vice President.’

‘He provided invaluable help and support in setting up our first dementia support groups. In addition, he and Christine ran the Shawbury day centre for many years and he supported many older people in his village. He was always very supportive of staff and he and Christine were always willing to roll up their sleeves and help out at our events. In the last year or so John had reduced his role in the charity, but was always there for support whenever we needed it. I considered him a dear friend as I know many others will too.’
