Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin is urging people to check in on their older friends, family and neighbours as flooding continues to affect large parts of the region.

With more heavy rain and high winds expected this week and significant river and surface water flooding expected older people are particularly vulnerable.

Heather Osborne, Chief Executive of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, said: ‘Older people can be left at significant risk during floods, storms or power cuts and it’s vital that they aren’t forgotten.’

To find out if you or a friend, family member or neighbour is at risk, enter your postcode at the government's Flood Information Service website. The site also contains useful information on what to do before, after and during a flood.

You can also call Shropshire Council on 0345 678 9006 for advice and information or Telford & Wrekin Council on 01952 384 000.
