Thanks to the help of a local knitting group, Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin has been able to donate blankets to Marches Energy Agency who are on a mission to keep vulnerable people and families warm over the winter months.

Rebecca Hughes, Marketing and Communications Manager at Marches Energy Agency put a call out on the community hub asking for people to donate cosy blankets, throws, slippers and anything else that might help towards keeping vulnerable people and families warm over winter.

Manager of Wellbeing services at Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, Emma Wilde responded to the callout thanks to some leftover crocheted blankets donated in 2020 by Loppington Knitting Group. The local knitting group wanted the blankets to keep older people warm in the winter so Emma thought this was the perfect cause to donate them to.

Rebecca Said: ‘These blankets will be a support for vulnerable people this winter, who often have to make the choice between feeding themselves and heating their homes: this includes many elderly people living in cold homes with inefficient heating. We thank Loppington Knitting Group and Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin for their lovely donation, it will help so much.’
