After almost two years of having to close our doors due to the pandemic and lock downs, our day centres have safely reopened and are welcoming back new and existing members.

Run by teams of enthusiastic, dedicated volunteers, our day centres open one day a week, generally from 10.00am-2.00pm. They pack a lot into the day and include a variety of activities tailored to what each group wants to do, but normally including crafts and musical activities, quizzes and games. There are plenty of opportunities to socialise and the centres include a hot two-course meal in the admission charge (usually £8.00-£12.00, depending on the centre).

Sarah, who attends our Madeley day centre, said: ‘I really look forward to my weekly day out now, I get picked up on the bus and Bob who is our passenger assistant is lovely and so helpful. I have made some lovely friends and we enjoy talking about what we used to do and we even do other things together and ring each other up.’

Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin have day centres in the following areas of Telford:

  • Donnington
  • Wellington
  • Newport
  • Madeley
