Coronation celebrations

Across the county, Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin day centres, dementia services, classes and many more, came together to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.

Afternoon teas, lunches, costume contests, music and dancing, our members dressed up in their best red, white and blue outfits, donning Union Jack hats and waving their flags to celebrate the historic occasion. Some were even sharing stories of where they were for the Queen’s coronation too.

Our day centre in Greenacres, recently received a heartfelt thank you card from the King after they sent their condolences for Queen Elizabeth. For the coronation, the group planted a tree at their day centre and members have sent a special card to congratulate King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla.

Heather Osborne, Chief Executive of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin said: ‘I want to thank all our dedicated volunteers and our staff that spent their time arranging all the coronation themed activities and celebrations. It has been lovely to see everyone come together during the historic event and feel part of the festivities.’
