We are delighted to share that Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin has been chosen as one of six local charities to benefit from the Telford Tree of Light 2026 campaign.
Members of our team recently joined representatives from the four Telford Rotary Clubs and the other beneficiary charities at Telford Shopping Centre for the launch of this year’s campaign. It was a fantastic opportunity to come together and celebrate the start of another important fundraising appeal for our local community.
The Telford Tree of Light is a much-loved local tradition, jointly administered and supported by the four Telford Rotary Clubs. It has been running for more than 30 years and has raised over £909,000 for more than 60 local charities. This year, the campaign is hoping to move closer to the £1 million fundraising milestone.
Alongside Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, this year’s beneficiaries are Severn Hospice, Hope House, Lingen Davies Cancer Support, Shropshire Bereavement Group and Shropshire/Staffordshire/Cheshire Blood Bikes.
The Tree of Light gives people a special way to remember someone special at Christmas, with the opportunity to make a dedication in memory of a loved one or much-loved pet. Every donation helps support the six charities taking part in this year’s campaign.
Clare Davis, Chief Executive Officer of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen as one of the beneficiaries of this year’s Telford Tree of Light. It is a wonderful local tradition that brings people together to remember their loved ones, while raising vital funds for charities supporting people across our community.”
Continued Clare: “We are incredibly grateful to the four Telford Rotary Clubs for choosing us and to everyone who takes part. Every donation, whatever the amount, will help us continue our work helping older people to be independent, socially connected, supported and informed.”
We are now looking forward to the official Tree of Light switch-on at Telford Shopping Centre at 4.00pm on Thursday 12 November, which will mark the beginning of this year’s campaign.
