Age UK Solihull
Our Digital Champion Project offers free advice and support to older people who are isolated in their homes, with regard to using digital technology.
About the service
We run drop-in sessions throughout North and South Solihull where you can bring your tablet, smartphone or laptop computer for support with a specific issue.
One-to-one support is also available for those who are unable to leave the home. We will allocate you a Digital Champion Volunteer who can provide you with an hour's tuition every week for a three-month period, to support you with using a tablet or computer.
The training is suitable for beginners as well as those who already have basic digital skills but would like to improve them.
If you do not have IT equipment you could benefit from our Tablet Loan scheme.
The project can help you with:
- Online shopping
- Communicating with family, friends and community groups via email or video calls
- Searching for information
- Accessing learning online
- Downloading and using apps
Beth, who completed one of our group courses and borrowed a tablet for eight weeks through our tablet loan scheme, said:
"I really enjoyed the course. I was made to feel at ease and everyone representing Age UK Solihull was brilliant."
