Derek Bottomley RIP

Age UK York staff and volunteers will remember Derek Bottomley, our previous Chair.  Derek had suffered ill health for some time and died in York Hospital on 8^th March after a bad fall.

Sue Bottomley, his daughter, contacted us with the sad news.  We have sent our condolences to her. 

Derek was Chair of Age UK York for seven years.  He worked closely with Sally Hutchinson, the earlier Chief Officer, and led us through the recruitment process for her successor, Jenny Allott. Derek's departure as Chair coincided with the first Covid difficulties and lockdown, so we weren't able to give him the farewell send off we'd have liked; but I know he received many messages of thanks and goodwill from staff and volunteers.
