Age UK York launches new fundraising campaign in the run up to Christmas

After an isolating and difficult year for many older people in York, Age UK York is determined that no one should have no one this Christmas. We want older people who are lonely at home, and unable to see family or friends to receive phone calls and gifts.

“Ideally, of course, we want all older people in York to have some support and contact this Christmas,” said Jennifer Allott Chief Executive at Age UK York. “It’s been an exceptionally difficult time for older people, who often have been unable to leave their homes for long stretches of time. We are also really concerned about older people who have been caring for their partners without the support and respite they would normally have.”

Age UK York has also launched a Christmas appeal to help the organisation continue its support for older people in the city.

“We’ve lost a lot of income this year,” said Jennifer Allott, “and we are very sadly facing staff redundancies. We’re determined that we will continue to provide essential support in 2021 and beyond.”

York residents are asked to donate this Christmas at https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/SupportAgeUKYork to help ensure no one in York will have no one this Christmas
